Below is a series of photoshoot images of my white Yamaha Stage Custom travel kit. This is a straightforward setup that’s easy to move and transport. You can learn more about this kit on the drum setups page, along with the other kits and instruments in my percussion studio. There are a couple things that should stand out about this drumset and many of the pictures below will highlight them in more detail.
This drumset features a small 18×15 bass drum that is tuned to pack a punch and cut through. The toms are 12×10, 14×13, and 16×14 and are set up symmetrically for fills on either side. Also symmetrical are the two hihats, a 14″ standard hat on the left and a 13″ dummy hat on the right for intricately crisp rhythms that I love to play on both hihats together! The star of the show is the world’s craziest ride, a behemoth 24″ bash ride cymbal that’s dry enough to mix well with the small kit, but cuts through on the bell when needed too.
This drumset is basically made up of pieces from my other three kits since all of my drumsets feature white drums to contrast the main colors. As a result, this little monster becomes a star when I need to travel light or setup fast. Special thanks to the Sylvan Beach Amusement Park and Pat Goodenow for allowing me to use their property as an amazing backdrop. I met a bunch of great people that really enjoyed talking about drums with anyone that wanted to check out my kit while shooting!
